2013 - present
This project revolves around ventifacts, or rocks that have been shaped by the wind, the myth of Sisyphus, and an ongoing interest in the mechanics of failure. I used my breath to create drawings of wind-worn structures, including concrete ruins from a former smokeless gunpowder munitions factory. The drawings then serve as handmade props designed for resistance and failure, used by dancers in artificially constructed environments. The resulting drawings are the “ventifacts” borne from this fabricated ritual. Videos produced in collaboration with HIJACK (Kristen Van Loon and Arwen Wilder) and Kevin Obsatz.
